Prof. Olaniyi A. Fawole Recognised as Outstanding Researcher of the Year by UJ Faculty of Science

Big wins continue for the Postharvest and Agroprocessing Research Centre (PARC) in 2025! Adding to an already remarkable year, Professor Olaniyi Amos Fawole, Director of PARC, has been named Outstanding Researcher of the Year (Research Professor Category) at the University of Johannesburg’s Faculty of Science Year-End Function.

The award recognises Prof. Fawole’s exceptional research output and sustained contributions to postharvest science, agroprocessing innovation, and sustainable food systems. His work addresses critical challenges across the agri-food value chain, including the reduction of postharvest losses, enhancement of food quality, and the development of resilient, value-added food systems aligned with industry and societal needs.

Throughout 2025, PARC has continued to strengthen its presence in national and international research spaces, advancing solution-driven science with real-world impact. Prof. Fawole’s recognition further reinforces the Centre’s commitment to producing high-quality research that responds to food security challenges while supporting innovation and economic development across Africa.
